Our unique program engages both police employees and community leaders in education and interaction with the “Human-Business Model”™ and “Perspective Mindset”™. By combining engagement and education in sessions with each side of the police-community issue, PEACE improves communication and trust between citizens and police. Groups are educated separately and united later to more effectively address community problems and thereby working together toward resolutions. Bringing attendees together after their programs are complete in a facilitated session furthers the healing process and completes the basic program.
Communities Depend on Police
EVERYONE in the community wants PEACE, safety, freedom, and respect. It’s time to work TOGETHER to achieve it!
To maximize the effectiveness, the people of the community also need to TRUST their police. While distrust and the reasons for it are debatable, we believe the needed change requires understanding and communication. EVERYONE in the community wants PEACE, safety, freedom, and respect. It’s time to work TOGETHER to achieve it
P.E.A.C.E. focuses on bringing people together. To do that, we all need to proceed past our bias We need to recognize that much of the community perceive things very differently from the police. Both sides are feeling “beat-up”, seeing themselves as the victim. We can work together by finding the common ground. We all want PEACE. If we eliminate the labels and categories, if we focus on treating each other as fellow humans, PEACE will bring a brighter future.

Sheri helps people be nice to one another. An Indianapolis resident and nationally recognized customer service coach, a church elder and community activist, she appreciates the difficult job police do and doesn’t want communities to be without them.
Anthony is a police officer turned consultant. After 20 years on the job in one of Michigan’s tough cities, the marches and rallies culminating the last several years of animosity toward police, he started having conversations with community leaders. Finding that they understood little of police life, reflections also showed him how officers’ own actions could significantly help or hurt them. He began looking for ways to do both. Then he connected with Sheri.
As they talked, helping Police Engage And Communities Excel became a mission. PEACE and #peacecitizens began to form. Knowing that guidance and leadership would be essential, they developed the vision and organizational success components. Further helping leaders in both police departments and community organizations have greater success, completes the picture of a brighter future.
Sharing a common mission to bridge divides and bring people together, PEACE merged with Beyond Barriers in 2022.
There is a long-standing lack of trust of police officers and agencies within certain communities, evidenced by the numerous protests in 2020. Our program encourages mutual respect and understanding, focusing those involved on working towards PEACE and the safety of the community. PEACE is achieved together through Police Engagement And Community Excellence.
After our program, the officers will feel revitalized in their mission to protect and serve, connecting more readily and with interest to the community members. Community leaders will better understand why, where, and what police officers and agencies use as the foundation of their operations. Both will better understand how to work together to improve not only relations between each other but the overall safety of the community.
Implementation of our program results in greater citizen and community satisfaction with the police department. By understanding and changing Perspective Mindset™, PEACE improves relationships. This is shown through reduced complaints on officers and later through reduction in use of force incidents and increased community satisfaction. The long-term goal of the program is greater community involvement with the police department, greater investigative cooperation and increases in witness statements.
The PEACE program begins with three consultations with the governmental leadership, the police department, and select local leaders, seeking the goals of each and encouraging patience while changes occur. PEACE public relations will work with the governing entity to establish media releases and publications at appropriate times throughout the program. After scheduling the necessary sessions for all participants, another meeting will give community leadership the opportunity to present any “hot-button topics” to be addressed during sessions. As the workshops begin, participants will be recognized publicly, then congratulated again at graduation. As the program concludes, participants will be guided in setting up ongoing opportunities for engagement.
Attendees will be introduced to “Perspective Mindset”™ and learn how it interferes with their community, their intentions and their safety. They then develop avenues for cooperatively addressing their issues within the system. By using the “Human Business Model”™ and “Perspective Mindset”™, PEACE can bridge the gap of trust.
Studies (by ACAP Solutions/Florida Institute of Technology) of archival data can be added for publication, with studies following the implementation of the PEACE program.
Our study shows that 82.5% of officers are interested in our program and 92.5% believe that the whole-community approach is the best way to solve the problem. More than half of officers (53.85%) are looking for the content that we provide.
